Bystanders injured after sudden scaffolding collapse

Fall-related injuries are some of the most common injuries in the construction industry. Often, these types of accidents are related to scaffolding. While many South Carolina companies go to extensive efforts to guarantee that their workers stay safe and understand how to properly assemble scaffolding equipment, accidents can still happen. Unfortunately, in some instances, these situations can create risks for everyone in the surrounding area, even bystanders and pedestrians.

This is exactly what happened in a recent construction accident in Brooklyn, New York. A building that had been under construction had a large portion of scaffolding immediately around the exterior. A portion of the scaffolding surrounded a busy Starbucks coffee shop, and it came crashing down in a violent collapse. Three people were injured including one construction worker and two pedestrians according to initial reports. Some witnesses told of how the scaffolding appeared to be receiving some attention earlier in the morning but was not fixed properly which resulted in the collapse. A crosswalk light also fell over in the accident. According to authorities, all three people were taken to local hospitals to be treated for their injuries.

If people have been injured in a construction accident, they may benefit from the help of an attorney. Hiring a legal professional may enable them to receive guidance through the legal process of gathering evidence and presenting a case in an effort to get the compensation they deserve.
