What causes excessive anger?

When it comes to violent crimes, many people have anger issues. You may have difficulty problem solving or communicating your feelings to other people. Instead, you repress anger or become reactive.

According to the American Psychological Association, anger may be annoyance or rage.

Causes of excessive anger

For most people, anger is nothing more than a natural response to a threat. When you feel aggressive, your body wants to protect you from any danger. The anger allows you to defend yourself if someone or something attacks you. Those who overreact may have a variety of issues at hand. For example, if a person suppresses anger, the anger may turn towards him or herself. You may become more passive-aggressive too.

Naturally, some people carry more anger than others. They may become angry at a quicker rate and may become more loud and irritable. Some may be born with a low tolerance for frustration. In other cases, the anger may be sociocultural.

Strategies for excessive anger

If you have excessive anger, you need to find ways to relax. Some people use anger management to help keep those impulses at bay. When you do not have coping skills, you may react violently or aggressively. Violent actions can lead to assault charges.

To try to control your anger, try deep breathing techniques. Breathe from your diaphragm and try to repeat calm words to yourself. If you can imagine a relaxing place, imagine it. Try to remain as logical as possible when thinking about your anger. You may find it more challenging to be irrational when thinking logically.
