3 Myths about DUIs
DUI charges can sober you up. After all, these charges will stick with you forever.
A lot of people believe they can get off of DUI charges quickly. However, that is often not the case. Here are several myths that lead to these assumptions you should never believe.
1. Coffee sobers you up
Drinking does not lower blood alcohol content (BAC) levels. Therefore, the only way to reduce your BAC to legal levels is not to consume alcohol for a certain amount of time. Unfortunately, that means you must wait several hours after drinking before driving.
2. You must be driving for DUI charges
If an officer has reason to believe that you were operating a vehicle recently while impaired, they can charge you for a DUI. In other words, if you stop your car and drunkenly stagger into the store, they can assume you were driving while impaired.
3. Officers cannot charge you with a DUI if you are not moving
This rule is similar. If a police officer sees you in the driver’s seat of a parked car and the engine is running, they can charge you with a DUI.
If officials arrest you for a DUI, you must take action immediately. You need to know what steps to take so you can get through the arrest and trial without further issues. That begins with understanding what is false about DUIs. Do some more research to understand the myths around DUIs better. That will set you up to get through your trial successfully.
